About

Our Farm Story
The Orrs have long, historical roots in the dairy industry, dating back seven generations of farmers. Today, Jeffrey and Jennifer have been managing Jeff's family's dairy and crop operation at Orr Agriculture for more than ten years.
Currently, about 180 cows are milked three times a day on the farm. Other daily chores include feeding calves, caring for dry cows in their off-period, and raising heifers before breeding.
Pasture ground around the farm is used in rotationally grazed paddocks for the herd most of the year. Rotational grazing is the practice of moving livestock through different sections of pasture allowing plants to rest and re-grow to grazing height.
The Orrs also manage a small sheep and chicken flock, diversifying their local offerings for the Mon Valley community.
Harmony Acres Dairy has been a dream of Jeffrey and Jennifer's for some time. When shortages were a reoccurring part of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Orrs wanted to find a way to be part of the solution and decided to begin bottling their own milk.
The on-farm storefront officially opened in May 2021, with a desire to reach the local community with wholesome and nutritious products. Harmony Acres Dairy aims to include local farmers’ goods to offer a unique agricultural product to the surrounding area in a one-stop shop.
Harmony Acres milk can be found in serval places across the southwest PA region, including Christner Farms in Dawson, JP's Farmers Market in Hunker, and Farmers & Friends Marketplace in Washington. You can also spot Harmony Acres at several farmer's markets throughout the season, including Kecksburg Farmers Market, Greensburg Night Market, and more!
Stewards of the Land
Southwest PA has been the home of Orr family farmers, dating back seven generations. The original Orr homestead was located in the South Hills region of Pittsburgh, and when Jeff's grandfather had to travel through two red lights on his tractor, he decided it was time to move the farm. In his early twenties, Jeff's grandfather, R. William, and his brother James moved the farm to our current location - barn, cows, family, and all!
Today, Jeffrey and Jennifer have been managing Jeff's family's dairy and crop operation at Orr Agriculture for more than ten years. You can find dairy cattle, sheep, and row crops at Orr Agriculture. Jeff maintains the acres of wheat, corn, and soybeans, as well as the pasture ground our cattle graze.
Keeping cows on pasture as much as possible is a key element in raising happy, healthy cows at Orr Agriculture. Like the slogan says, we strive to produce in harmony with nature, which looks like rotational grazing, cover crops, no-till practices, and reduced chemical and fertilizer.
We work towards a regenerative system utilizing conservation practices that benefit the environment.
By utilizing different conservation practices on the farm, the soil at Orr Agriculture is able to produce healthy and hearty crops to feed the cattle, sheep, and chickens that call Orr Agriculture home.
Why creamline milk?
At Harmony Acres, we believe in keeping the milk as minimally processed as possible, just as nature intended. To ensure a safe food product for all, we lightly pasteurize our milk at 145 degrees for 30 minutes, which is the state-required minimum.
Our milk is non-homogenized, meaning all the natural creamy goodness is left in. Homogenization alters the molecular state of milk.
Our product is creamier and a bit sweeter than homogenized milk, allowing folks to romanticize about getting milk delivered to their doorstep as a child! Just remember to shake the jug to redistribute the cream before drinking. Or, if you prefer, skim off the cream and use it as heavy cream - simple as that!

We're the Orrs, dairy farming in Southwest, PA, working on regenerating our land and bottling creamline milk from our family's dairy herd. We firmly believe in strong regenerative agricultural practices, not just sustaining what we have but making the land better for future generations. Our kiddos are the 5th generation living at our current location in Belle Vernon, PA.
Harmony Acres is a woman-owned business operated by Jen in tandem with her husband Jeff, who owns and operates all farming aspects. The store at Harmony Acres Dairy is lovingly referred to as Jen's Jug Hut.
